Greenwood Bay is an urban artisan woodworking studio that creates exquisite custom furniture using the most the beautiful wood available anywhere. We honor nature’s most majestic specimens by handcrafting our pieces to highlight their own natural beauty using designs that are both functional and stunning. Although each is unique, many of our designs are inspired by George Nakashima live edge style, which accentuates the natural curve and grain of wood of each piece.

  • Live Edge Table

    This table was crafted from a live edge slab of Big Leaf Maple. Big Leaf Maple grows in the Pacific Northwest, as opposed to the Eastern US (and Canada) where “Hard Maple” grows. Big Leaf produces a more intense grain pattern than other maples. It often has highly figured grain, burl and curl in various places throughout the wood.

    We fashioned a kitchen table from the slab to create a very contemporary table that would look great in any modern space. It is in the truest sense of the word, a minimalist breakfast table that has a very natural appeal. The raw edge of this type of wood is as dramatic as any you will find will find anywhere.
